Food & calorie logging

Calorie, protein, water and calcium goals taken from the national reference intakes — and a food database where the numbers come from USDA, not from us.

Goals from the reference intakes

Your calorie target comes from the National Academies' 2023 energy equations — the current ones, not the 2005 equations most calculators still quote. Protein, water and calcium come from the same body's Dietary Reference Intakes, set for your age and sex.

Real food values

Every staple food in the app carries values traced to USDA FoodData Central. Scan a packaged product's barcode and the numbers come from that product's own nutrition label via Open Food Facts, because a manufacturer's label beats a generic average.

Meal ideas that hit the target

The daily plate is built from foods the app actually has data for, portioned to reach your calorie goal rather than landing well short of it.
